Sustainability and carbon reduction

Make informed aluminium choices for your next building. We combine NZC carbon reporting, independent Achilles verification and recycled-content material options to support your environmental brief.

Understanding our footprint with NZC

We use NZC Solutions to calculate and report our company greenhouse gas emissions. Measuring our operations and value chain gives us a basis for understanding our footprint and considering where changes can make a difference.

Our reporting covers company activities within the inventory’s agreed boundaries. For a building project, we discuss material and product information separately so your team can assess the aluminium specification against its own carbon brief.

Our verified 2024–25 carbon inventory

Location-based company emissions for 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025, expressed in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e).

Reporting categoryEmissions (tCO₂e)
Scope 1 — direct emissions139.62
Scope 2 — purchased energy11.69
Scope 3 — value chain2,020.90
Total gross inventory2,172.21

Third-party verification through Achilles

Achilles Information Limited verified our 2024–25 company greenhouse gas inventory through the Toitū verification programme. The independent audit opinion was issued on 31 July 2026 against ISO 14064-1:2018, ISO 14064-3:2019 and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard.

Scopes 1 and 2 received reasonable assurance; Scope 3 received limited assurance. The opinion includes a qualification: a large proportion of purchased goods and services emissions uses spend-based estimates and assumptions, so changes in those estimates may change the figures.

The engagement verifies the company inventory for the stated period. It does not certify AW as carbon neutral or establish the embodied carbon of an individual window, door or building.

100% recycled-content aluminium options

We can offer aluminium with 100% recycled content for suitable project specifications. Ask about this option when planning windows, doors or curtain walling so we can check the available material with the proposed system.

Recycled content relates to the aluminium material, rather than every component of the finished assembly. We confirm the selected grade, supplier evidence, system compatibility, availability and lead time as part of the quotation.

Where your brief requires post-consumer recycled content or an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), specify that requirement explicitly. Your design team can then review the supporting information for the material and product actually being offered.

Discuss recycled aluminium for your project

Recycling glass and aluminium from site

When existing glazing is replaced, the materials coming off site matter too. AW can recycle glass and aluminium from site as part of retrofit and refurbishment projects.

Talk to us about recycling at the quotation stage. We can agree which materials are included and how collection will fit around your site access and programme.

Working towards your project’s carbon target

Bring us your carbon target early. We can review aluminium material options and the proposed glazing specification with your team to identify a suitable route within the project’s technical and procurement requirements.

A carbon target needs a defined scope, measurement method and supporting evidence. We assess what can be achieved for the specified products alongside thermal, structural, fire, security and programme requirements before making a commitment.

  • Share the carbon budget, units, reporting boundary and assessment method.
  • Identify the system, quantities, glazing, finish and required performance.
  • Tell us the recycled-content and product declaration requirements.
  • Agree the available material, evidence and delivery arrangements before ordering.

Our Carbon Reduction Plan

Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out our commitment to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 across operations within our operational control. It uses the independently verified 2024–25 inventory as our baseline.

We aim to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 10% each year through to 2030 against that baseline, alongside work with our supply chain. These are stated targets; progress will be assessed through future reporting. The plan is reviewed at least annually.

If you are preparing a tender, send the environmental document schedule and deadline with your enquiry. We will confirm which company, material and product information is available for the proposed work.
